First and foremost I must say this picture is beautiful. The color composition is absolutely spectacular. I love how the sky goes from an almost fuschia towards the horizon to a deep purple as you move towards the top of the photograph. That caught my eye almost instantly. The gold hue that the lights bring to the buildings really makes them stand out against the purple hue of the sky.
I really love how the lights reflect against the harbor. The way the colors of the lights reflect off the ocean makes the water look like glass. The green lights near the water really caught my eye as a nice almost contrast to the gold.
The main reason why this caught my eye is because I live in Southern New England and I visit Boston at least once a month. I have never seen the Harbor Walk as I call it from this angle. I have always stood somewhere along the harbor and looked out towards Logan Airport but it has always been during the day. This photograph has shown me something that I have seen countless times in a completely different way. To see an area of Boston that is already beautiful to begin with in this way is really breathtaking and it makes this amazing in many ways. I was drawn to this photograph because I knew, without looking at the title, that it was Boston's skyline. But it was Boston's skyline in a way that I had never seen it before so I really must thank you for allowing me to see a familiar scene in a completely different way.
This is quite a good shot of Boston and one of the best shots I've seen you submit in a while. Particularly impressive is the clarity and sharpness in the photo; uploading it onto the internet has caused a noticeable decline in image quality, but that is the internet's fault and certainly nothing to do with technical error on your part. Everything in the image is sharp, front-to-back and corner-to-corner.
The balance of purple and yellow hues is extremely eye-catching and very pretty. You have done an excellent job of capturing this image at just the right time of evening to get the light levels even and the colour composition perfect, and have done well to enhance the visual in post-production. The cropping is also very tidy and pleasing, and I like the way you've used certain elements to frame the photo. Overall, the composition is impressive in terms of both colour and shape.
The only minor issue with this photo is a small artifact about halfway up and a third of the way in from the right, just next to the clock tower. It looks like you may have had a dirty lens, but this is easily fixed in Photoshop. It hardly detracts from an excellent image which does a great job of showcasing your skill as a photographer.
